The Oak Forest girls’ track and field team put up a strong performance at the South Suburban Blue Conference Championship on May 7, earning multiple top finishes and setting personal records against tough conference competition.
One of the biggest highlights came from sophomore Mya Johnson, who placed second in the varsity 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.14. The sprint group also got a strong performance from Camryn King, who ran a personal-best 28.81 seconds in the varsity 200-meter dash. Oak Forest’s varsity 4×100 relay team of Desiree Mims, Jennifer Komolafe, Camryn King, and Eliana Olukolade added another medal by taking third place in 53.20 seconds.

The Bengals also impressed in the distance events. Emilia Zwolinski placed second in the varsity 800-meter run with a personal best of 2:27.52, while Selah Mabe earned fourth place in the 3200-meter run. In the junior varsity races, Elena Andruk finished second in the 1600 meters with a personal-best 6:26.71.

Oak Forest found success in the field events as well. Jennifer Komolafe had one of the team’s best all-around performances, finishing second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.86 meters and third in the long jump at 5.06 meters. Aziyah Griffin led the Bengals throwers in both shot put and discus.

Overall, it was a memorable set of performances. Congratulations, Bengals!
