World Language Day Brings Culture to Life

World+Language+Day+Brings+Culture+to+Life

On Friday, March 15, World Language Day took place in the Oak Forest IMC. In past years, students presented languages and cultures with which they were familiar. This year, the World Language Department asked several staff members to talk about their experiences with another language and culture. Ms. Turek spoke about Greek culture and language, while Ms. Mathis did Spanish (with a focus on Nicaragua), Mr. Byrne presented Irish/Gaelic, and Mr. Farrell introduced Malagasy. Several of the presentations included food, music, or language lessons. There was also a dance troupe, performing pieces from Arabic-speaking countries.

Throughout the day, the IMC was filled with students who graciously participated and asked questions to the presenters. It was a fun and memorable day for all!
