This past Saturday, February 2, the Regional speech tournament took place at Eisenhower High School in Blue Island. Oak Forest juniors Annais Gangolf and Casey Gatto both performed strongly and advanced to the Sectional tournament, which will be held at Thornton Township High School on February 9. Gangolf, who specializes in a speech event called Oratorical Declamation, in which she performs a speech that someone else has delivered before, finished 3rd at the tournament with “Dyslexia and Privilege.” Gatto, a Radio speaker, was also 3rd in her event. Radio Speaking is an event that emphasizes presentation of news, commercials, sports, and weather, all in a 5-minute broadcast.
