Looking Back on a Football Season

Looking Back on a Football Season

Now that a month or so worth of dust has settled on a football season, it is easier to look back with some clarity. Despite the few setbacks the Oak Forest Varsity Football team experienced at the beginning of the season, it finished the season by winning two games against rival schools Tinley Park and Bremen. Captains David Ocasio, Brandon Krauss, Jake Ferrero, Ethan Broniarczyk, and Zach Anderson demonstrated a significant amount of leadership in their winning efforts. According to David Ocasio, the team always worked collectively: “We are all like brothers. We always have each other’s backs and motivate each other when one of us isn’t feeling too well. We get along well and work hard at our practices.” The football team’s best result for the season was probably the 13-9 win against Bremen. Coaches Brain McDonough and Eric Gomez prepared the team while making their games enjoyable throughout the season. After ten years as Oak Forest’s head football coach, McDonough will be retiring this year. Although the football players were incredibly upset, the team hopes that McDonough will continue to attend their future games and keep supporting them on the field.
