First Spark

Daniel Alnemri, Contributor

A girl I knew outside the cafe

Is crying, as her heart breaks away

Reading the text messages on her phone

But she really did look like a gemstone

She inflamed and furious and disgusted all over

But her soul seems pure, but alone

I walked over to her on this bright thursday afternoon

And said hey, want to talk

And then she hugged me and cried into my soldier

And at that point a spark has lit up,

A light to my life and a hug that meant the world

A blaze to light a dark tunnel

She was for me as i was for her

She said “i love you” in a whisper
