Art is subjective. It comes in many different forms because so many people create it. Almost everyone has done art at some point in life. Recently, I interviewed someone who I believe has taken their art skills to the next level.
Yuri Boope is a senior at Oak Forest High School and the main art form they’re currently working with is crochet. They found it by attempting to try and figure out ways to expand the horizons of their art; they thought it was easier and more enjoyable to work with than some of the art forms that they did previously. As they crochet, they usually like to focus on creating clothes. Something they typically dislike seeing in their art is when the final product looks out of place and doesn’t fit correctly. However, when the finished product looks right and fits well, they feel happy about their result. One of their favorite pieces of art that they have created was their sun and moon pants. They enjoyed how the colors faded into one another and how it looked and felt right to them. It was a piece they were proud of.

When creating art, it’s important that you enjoy the process and be proud of what you made, even if it’s not what you imagined it would be. Art is all about time and practice. Even if you don’t like a particular piece of your artwork, you can at least be proud of the time, dedication, and effort that you put into it. As long as what you’ve made makes you happy, you’ve produced a masterpiece.
