I was not born in Japan. I am a Mexican American who was born in Illinois; the United States is my home. Still, I’ve been playing video games since I was little, and I love them. They’re part of my personality. Thinking about those video games now just makes me reflect on my love of Japanese role-playing games. They make me feel a connection to Japan.
If you’ve ever experienced moving to a new country, or friends have introduced you to their culture, you may start to feel that a second country is now part of you. There are people who, rather than being part of their own community all of the time, would join others, get to know them, and start to learn more about them. When you start to develop a bond with a different culture, you may feel close to another country, too.
I’m a person who always respects and learns more about other people’s countries, whether they themselves have the same level of curiosity or not. Basically, there’s nothing wrong with adopting a new culture or even a new country to your personality. You’re just experiencing a growing bond with another’s viewpoint. What really matters is that people show love and respect for one another and their communities.
