October is the ultimate fall month, and with that comes the chilly weather and the changing leaves. What can be better than watching Halloween-themed movies under blankets during the lead-up to the holiday? Here are five themed movies that will make you feel cozy and warm while watching:
If you’re looking for a movie that is family friendly while still being of the thriller genre, the Goosebumps franchise might suit your taste. Available to stream on Netflix, these films combine original stories from the classic books by R.L. Stine with adaptations to fit a TV format. Highly recommended if you like shorter flicks!
Next on the list is a Halloween classic, Beetlejuice. Although this movie came out in 1988, it’s still alive and well today. It focuses on the story of previous house owners haunting the new owners to scare them out, all the while attracting Beetlejuice. If you like comedies and fantasy movies, you’d love this one!
Following that is a traditional favorite, Hocus Pocus. A Halloween staple, this family friendly will surely make your watch list. The story follows two young teenagers exploring an abandoned house with a new friend. But when witches are freed, the group has to stop them before turning immortal.
Next up on the list is a Tim Burton masterpiece, Edward Scissorhands. If you’re not one for suspenseful movies, this one might fit your fancy. With an amazing cast that includes Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder as the main characters who share a romantic chemistry, Edward Scissorhands is a must. (And if it isn’t a Halloween movie, it should be!)
Last on the list is for horror fanatics: The Shining is the perfect mix of suspense and fright. This horror classic, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, tells the story of an innkeeper and his psychological troubles. This movie will leave you on the edge of your seat!
